Cannot install drive and included eSATA cable does not provide power

This review is for the StarTech.com eSATAp/eSATA External Hard Drive Enclosure. I'm usually very happy with my purchases and rarely write reviews, but there are a few issues with this product that people should consider before purchasing. On a positive note, this case performs well in both eSATA and USB 3.0 modes. I haven't run any tests, but the drives appear to be just as fast as in other cases or with direct internal connections. 4.5 stars, almost perfect, material looks like HQ and the drive is tightly packed inside

Bought after I had to return an external hard drive due to a poorly made spare USB port and decided to just make my own to make outer casing with higher quality. Love the latch design, it comes with a nice rosette to cover the 7mm rims and fit snugly into the case. I imagine a 9.5mm drive would fit snugly without the washer, would be snug and the washer would flex a bit. Convenient portable storage.

It takes some time to get this case from Revain but it's worth the wait. I bought $9 cases at auction and was dying to compare them to this one. First, there's an 18-inch cable in the box. The cable is quite stiff, causing the drive to slide off the table when plugged in. I would put rubber feet on the bottom of the case. Attaches to the plastic base with 4 screws.
