Poor build quality or just poor quality control?

I ordered two of these units to complete a build I started before realizing I would need them for better cable management. My package was delayed by about 5 days. The cables have finally arrived. All connectors on one of the cables look normal. However, on the second cable, the last connector has some damage to the plastic and is missing a pin just below that area. So frustrating because now my build remains unfinished for even longer while waiting for a replacement. There really isn't much in…

Does the job, nothing special

Mediocre but gets the job done. c do fine, but there are a few caveats. The cables themselves are very stiff, making it difficult to power multiple drives stacked in a rack (especially difficult/impossible to stack 2.5" drives on top of each other, 2 for each 3.5" bay) , and also the plugs are reversed. So you have to twist something, which becomes more difficult due to hard wires. Finally, I can not speak about it, but I would hesitate to pair them in series, only one complement is safe, but I

DID just what I needed

I have an old Dell computer and wanted to add some SSD drives. Problem: Dell* ONLY ships enough SATA power connectors out of the box - instead of replacing the PSU with a generic one (with more power connectors) and knowing I wouldn't overwhelm the power requirements by using an SSD, I got this power adapter . / expanders. A PS SATA power connector connects to this cable and provides (4) evenly spaced SATA power connectors for additional drives approximately 2" apart. Plug in cables, plug in my

Good Design: Cables and Connections

I bought a 4-way splitter because I had a power supply in a box where one of the connectors just didn't fit. I needed a simple extension cord, not a splitter, but this four prong plug cost about the same. Turns out I was assembling a computer as soon as I received it and the PSU was incompatible. I ended up using an old PSU with a single SATA power connector. Then I realized the elegance of this design, since in most cases the hard drive bays and the optical drive bays are lined up. This meant…

Great way to upgrade old PSUs

I have used this PSU in several of my builds. This is a great option if you have power limitations and are out of SATA connections. I had an old source with a bad SATA terminal and was able to upgrade my server by connecting it to the existing end. I also used one in my "home server" which has 8 drives. I needed 2 more power connections. Search the internet to make sure you are not overloading the power supply. There are many websites where you can plug whatever you are going to connect to a…

Well designed on Cables and Accessories

I bought a 4-way splitter because in one instance I had a power supply where one of the connectors just wasn't big enough. I needed a simple extension cord, not a splitter, but this four prong plug cost about the same. Turns out I was assembling a computer right after I received it and the PSU was incompatible. I ended up using an old PSU with a single SATA power connector. Then I realized the elegance of this design, since in most cases the hard drive bays and the optical drive bays are lined…
