No Moto g7power support

Good. It's neat, but like me, don't listen to some online reviews of how this will work for your Moto g7power. That's definitely not true.

Screen goes black after 10-15 minutes

I bought this adapter last week and delivered it yesterday, I connect the adapter to Sony Xperia 1 to my TV, every 10-15 minutes the screen goes black and comes on again again . I am extremely disappointed.

Check compatibility

Check your processor type. This is Thunderbolt and only works with Intel processors. You can't do that with AMD. I've tried this on my Galaxy Tab S7 and with the HDMI monitor it goes into DEX mode and becomes a desktop so it's cool and I'll leave it, but a complete failure for what I got it for.

Adapter gets lukewarm, screen flashes completely and switches off

I've been using it on a Dell 5830 for 5 months now and it initially worked as it should. However, the monitor connected to the adapter flickers on and off annoyingly for 3-5 seconds over time. At first I was able to unplug and plug the key back in without any further issues. However, over time it will continue to degrade and become unusable, turning on and off every 1-2 minutes. The button itself is very hot to the touch, which can affect its correct functioning. I have other StarTech productsโ€ฆ

Doesn't fix dock issues

This is not an "external graphics card" like the USB 3.0 adapter that Startech sells. It really is an "adapter" which is why you don't need drivers for Windows and also why it's so cheap compared to others. I was having resolution issues when viewing my Dell Thunderbolt USB-C Dock through the HDMI port. I've tried using this but have the same problem because it uses the same bus as the dock and for some reason the HDMI port resolution is limited when both display ports are used. I should haveโ€ฆ

I still can't get HDR to work with MacBook Pro

I bought this because I wanted to play 4K 60fps/hz HDR videos on my 2018 MacBook Pro without using the internal display. Unfortunately I haven't managed to do that yet. I have macOS Catalina 10.15.2, a BenQ EW3270U 3840x2160 monitor with HDR support, and a Monoprice 18Gbps cable. The monitor and cable have been successfully paired with the Roku Ultra and other 4K HDR streaming devices and passed all tests without issue, proving their HDR capabilities. Otherwise, the adapter works well with noโ€ฆ
