Beautiful but fails

This is one of the prettiest teapots you have ever seen, but the inside of my teapot started peeling after 3 uses. I hope this can be fixed but am still disappointed that it needs to be fixed. I really wish it would work better.

Pros
  • Rough texture results in exceptional browning
Cons
  • Cleanliness

Lumberjack Tea Party!

This kettle is beautiful. However, this is a fully industrial choice. If you want tea and an upper body workout, this is your kettle. As I pour the cocoa and tea, I feel the muscles in my shoulders tighten. I will keep it forever and die strong.

Pros
  • Smooth enamelled base suitable for all hobs
Cons
  • No power

Good teapot: Tableware

Very beautiful, durable teapot. The cast iron construction retains heat well and keeps your tea warm for a long time. Additionally, it can be heated over a flame, unlike most Japanese-style cast iron tetsubin pots which cannot be placed over a flame. I also like the simple vintage design. The only reason I gave it a four was because the teapot I got from Revain seemed like second choice, with sloppy coloring and a non-matte finish. However, these shortcomings in no way affect its functionality.

Pros
  • Made in France
Cons
  • Little things

Minimalist design / ideal for making iced tea or any "casual " drink

Being stuck in a very small but "active" kitchen means I need an item that can do multiple jobs, not a lot of pots OR a single-purpose electrical appliance. I use this to brew 2 liters of sweet iced tea concentrate daily: 2 cups of water goes to the bottom of the spout, takes 8 minutes to almost boil -> add sweetener, fresh mint + 8 tea bags. . no matter how long it "cooks". Later, I pour the sifted concentrate into a 2 liter jug half filled with cold water and top up with the water I rinsed

Pros
  • No seasoning required
Cons
  • Not everything fits

More than a teapot but NOT a teapot

This is a teapot, not a teapot. You can both boil water and make tea in this kettle as it is made of cast iron, but boiling water is not the purpose of this kettle. That's why it doesn't have a whistle because you don't have to attach it to the stove and go. Staub teapots follow Asian villagers (like Japanese tetsubin teapots) as they brew tea as you watch water boil, throw in leaves and serve from a sturdy cast-iron kettle that keeps tea warm for up to an hour. Cast iron was traditionallyโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Each item in a single item
Cons
  • The list will be long.

Not very functional

I only bought this because it was claimed (by many on the internet) that it was the least 'toxic' kettle (in terms of heavy metal leaching etc. in water), except for glass, which I avoided due to its brittleness. Since I can't be sure of its non-toxic properties, my rating is based solely on ease of use compared to a standard stainless steel kettle. I might give it a 2 because it's ridiculously small, the handles get hot and the heating surface is 3.75" in diameter, it's very heavy (must be aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Can be used in the oven up to 500F
Cons
  • Some difficulties
