Review on 🍵 Staub Cast Iron 1-qt Round Tea Kettle - Cherry: Authentic French Craftsmanship by Amber Adams

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not very functional

I only bought this because it was claimed (by many on the internet) that it was the least 'toxic' kettle (in terms of heavy metal leaching etc. in water), except for glass, which I avoided due to its brittleness. Since I can't be sure of its non-toxic properties, my rating is based solely on ease of use compared to a standard stainless steel kettle. I might give it a 2 because it's ridiculously small, the handles get hot and the heating surface is 3.75" in diameter, it's very heavy (must be a functional argument, I hope someone can enlighten me here?) And don't hold the lid tight, but since we're going back to the 50's with this new President and it appears to be non-toxic, I'm going to buckle up and use it. comes with the kit (95% useless unless you speak multiple languages). and like to read the same thing over and over again) recommends "choosing a heat source that matches the size of the base of the product”. Does it have 3.75 inch burner? However, it did heat up on my gas range, but not as quickly as a stainless steel kettle. Even in the 50's people weren't used to instant gratification in everything so I'll take a look can I get used to it, yes the handles get hot so you'll need potholders if you're going to do anything with this kettle, including more Pour in whatever water you need, unless you only need 2 cups of hot water. Yes, it looks cool, but I'm not Martha Stewart trying to impress people at dinner parties. All these problems, which I fully expected based on previous reviews. Again, I bought it for its supposedly "non-toxic" properties. I hope that's true, otherwise I'll put up with all this stuff Nothing After a week of use: If you fill this kettle with water to the brim (because its capacity is small), you need to be very careful when carrying it, because easy boiling Water spouts out - for loose roofs ki and horizontal spout.

Pros
  • Can be used in the oven up to 500F
Cons
  • Some difficulties
