This thing works. I have potted recessed lights as well as track lighting. Getting the bulbs out of these two types of lighting worked. I used to have to go down the stairs, up the stairs, take out the lightbulb and put the new lightbulb in the sunken can lanterns. For the track lighting I had to remove the entire fixture because I couldn't wrap my fingers around the bulb well enough when it was over my head to remove the bulb. I would have preferred 6 feet over 4 feet, but otherwise this kit works great. The optically high-quality aluminum telescopic segments are folded along the grooves so that they cannot twist against each other. The brackets holding the extended segments are very strong. The end of the retractable pole has threads (about the size of a broomstick I think) while the bulb replacement suction cup that goes on it has thumbscrews to hold it to the pole, but they don't seem to harm each other in any way
