like the ones I had in elementary school

The grips are not as soft as I remembered them in elementary school. It's the same brand but I think they made them from a different material. They work though, so I keep them to myself. I also like that they are made in the USA.

Very Useful - Desk Accessories and Workplace Organizers

I was struggling to help my child pick up chunky pencils. I started using them and it was an instant hit. Without them she will still go back to an awful hold but I hope that over time she gets used to the feel of those holds without them.

Not ideal for a left hander but works

Bought for my left handed 6 year old. They work, but you have to reverse them. Difficult to explain in a review. I wouldn't call it a true left-handed grip; However, this is her favorite that I have yet to purchase. I've seen the biggest improvement in her grip after using this.

Perfect pencil grip for younger students

Perfect pencil grip. One of my parents mentioned that these are the type of pencil pens that occupational therapists use and recommend. She was impressed that I use them in my classes. The star on the handle helps my kindergarten children to find the right handle! Thanks to the other reviewers for the recommendation!

Too loose for Dixon/Ticknderoga

That's a great idea but we've had it for over a year now and we just can't find a pin that goes well with it. We use regular Dixon/Ticonderoga pencils and they pop out too much to be usable. See my photo. There's a tiny gap, just enough to keep the clutch slipping all the time. I hold them and think I'll find the pen they're working with.

Don't buy inferior Dolphin pencil pens.

I ordered several different pencils for my kindergarten class. I liked the round little ones with an asterisk where you put your thumb. However, cute dolphin-shaped pencil pens were a waste of money. We have been at school for 5 weeks and they have already scattered and torn. A few fell today. Buy another style if like me you are frugal. There is no way to replace them. ☹️☹️☹️

Pros
  • Don't waste your time
Cons
  • There are problems

An absolute must for teaching younger students correct grip when writing! If you also teach them to type all the letters from top to bottom and left to right, you are teaching them to automatically track their reading! Has been teaching non-readers for nearly 40 years, and most non-readers fail to understand because they turn the letters upside down and backwards, which compromises the automaticity your students need in tracking to retain meaning.

Works with most pencils. Recommended for first graders

My DD goes to a private school and her first grader wants the kids to use pencil pens. This is the stamp she wore at our preschool conference, so I ordered this stamp. They are pleasant to the touch and work best with round-bodied pencils. Some of the Dixon Ticonderoga crayons my daughter has don't feel as dense and slide off the crayon. I'll just buy her some more round pencils. The round ones have funnier prints and colors that she likes anyway, instead of the boring yellow Ticonderoga…

But the best in the business.

They don't stay on the pens - children pick up their pens and start writing and the pens just slide off. Pencils have been made narrower for the last I don't know how many years (probably to save money on resources without increasing the price of pencils too much). My own kids had these pens when they were younger (the youngest is 16 now) and they worked great so I wanted them for my remedial class. The hole diameter in these pins should be smaller to accommodate narrower pins. The pencils in…
