Description of Stinger CH38 2 Cap Staple Hammer

Cap hammer weighs 2.6lbs (1.18kg) and fastens housewrap, underlayment, and rolled insulation. Holds 168 1” (25mm) plastic collated caps and 168 3/8” (9.5mm) crown staples. Pull the trigger to feed the cap into position before striking and fastening the cap staple. The handle offers internal strength and a comfortable grip for performance. Use exclusively with STINGER 3/8” (9.5mm) StaplePac, collated caps and A-11 crown staples 20ga.

Usable but faulty

I wanted to write a review on this product because I opened the box today and used the cap hammer for the first time. I have to say I'm still trying to calm down after the bad experience. I read that the device is difficult to use and that the angle of rotation must be determined very precisely. Little did I know that this requires a VERY VERY precise angle of use, otherwise the caps will not come loose, resulting in multiple caps popping out, meaning wasted. I've read all the previous reviews complaining about this tool and I'm sure those people just didn't understand its functions. I've used Stinger and I think it works pretty well, but I also think all the bad reviews are from people who just couldn't figure it out. The green discs need to be exactly as pictured in order for them to work, otherwise the mount won't go deep enough to hit the center of the disc, and often the whole thing won't even hold. Don't be afraid of negative reviews, the tool works great!

This tool worked very well. I hesitated to buy it because of the negative reviews. I've found it easy to use and effective for tacking Tyvek to new building walls. The first time installation is a bit confusing. Here are some tips1) Staples are loaded from the back of the tool. You need to open the green drive door to find the staple box.
