The color is lighter than the picture (and compares to other matte black glazes)

They are beautiful, good quality, fold well and are just the size I was looking for. But they are definitely lighter black than in the photo. I was hoping for a very deep bluish black to match some of my other matte black glazes, but they are much paler in comparison. I'll probably leave them as they are, but the quest for the deep black glaze I desire continues.

Excellent cuisine, add! The Best of Kitchen & Dining

I love these plates! A little hesitant at first because of the uniqueness but very happy with the purchase. They are very strong and I haven't had any cracks/chips yet. Cleans up well in the dishwasher, no problems in the microwave. The dishes scratch the surface quite well, I haven't seen any scratches on the matte surface yet. As others have pointed out, there are a few downsides to glazing, but nothing bothers me, I can only recommend stricter quality control across the line. But overall Iโ€ฆ

Great for that paralyzed girl

I have a unique reason I love these plates and I LOVE them. After a stroke, I eat with my non-dominant hand. Difficult to get food for dishes. I have 2 bowls which made it easy; they have steep sides, like "ourโ€ black slabs. But I needed more. My normal plates didn't help. There were always leftovers. Bits of food I wanted to eat but all I could do was slide them all over my plate until I gave up. THEN I saw it; Hooray! They work great as a barrier, allowing me to scoop up every last biteโ€ฆ
