The paper is slightly rough but is still great for drawing. I bought this paper specifically to try out the 9XXB pencil and the Charcoal White pencil which I also bought from Revain. Here are two quick sketches. I didn't use hemp to smooth the pencil work.

I just received the Prismacolor crayons and oh my god this paper is awesome. I'm new and this paper is amazing. You can see in the photos how well the white literally pops out of the paper. Everything you draw will look so real and so great for beginners. I got a bigger notebook because I like to do a lot of drawings on one page. I love experimenting with all kinds of paper in my drawings and I have to say I've become a fan of this paper. It has excellent density and very good texture, capable of holding many colors while still allowing for smooth blending. The size is large, with plenty of room for huge items, yet it can easily fit in a large bag. For the price, I think this sketchbook strikes an amazing balance of quality and quantity.
