Surprisingly functional, but best with an external antenna.

The unit is as advertised but I find the built in antenna mostly useless as the noise inside associated with a desktop computer or mac is so high it doesn't sync. Everything works well enough with an external antenna and the right connections. Haven't had time to see if this can be made into a usable PPS signal, but I'm hoping to try it out soon.</p>

Signal strength for GPS, finders and accessories

After two weeks of use, multiple flights a day, GPS accuracy in the Statux app/l browser page never exceeded 5m, resulting in the previous flight only showing 10m or worse. GPS strength is weak. Worked best when the device was open on the anti-glare screen. Once cover was laid on it, accuracy deteriorated and contact with its assigned satellites decreased. The lid was used in a Statux plastic case.

Cons
  • Slightly cracked

Excellent GPS, suitable for GPS tracker

Store in Stratux plastic case and use with ForeFlight. Accuracy seems very good, Stratux and ForeFlight report different things, but I saw up to 1 meter while still on the ground. Looking back at the recorded log book, I agree. It seems very reliable at tracking satellites. I like to export .gpx files and overlay telemetry data on videos of my flights. For the price you really can't beat it.

Reliable Stratux component

This GPS navigator is part of the Stratux ADS-B handheld receiver kit and works very well with Foreflight, the electronic flight application. If you are a pilot using a WiFi only tablet with no GPS, this item can provide you with a moving map feature as part of your Stratux installation. As for using it with AHRS, it's still "experimental" and I wouldn't try the minimal approach with it just yet. But as a GPS, it does what it says on the tin.

Cons
  • Not the best

This device does not have the same reception as .

This unit does not have the same reception as the external VK-162. After experimenting a lot with my Stratux and keeping the antennas as close as possible, I was never able to block when indoors with a window view. VK-162 does this every time. I'll try to experiment with this on the dashboard but my hopes are low. My case was a Stratux case made out of ABS plastic. There was a copper bottom plate on the sides of the case, but not on top. Try to get the included lock working without the case.

Cons
  • Modernity

Works great

Purchased to replace a u-blox 7 antenna that was not picking up satellites in a Stratux ADSB-In receiver. Within 5 minutes of connecting and indoors I had over 15 satellites in view and the WAAS fix. I had to fiddle with the radio antenna wires because they seemed to be interfering with reception, but once I fixed that issue, the unit worked perfectly. A cheap upgrade for owners of older Stratux devices. We recommend updating your operating system.

Definitely RTFM - Works fine then

Preparing to return the thing. I installed it, flew, couldn't catch more than 1 satellite. Tried Stratux in every possible position, right on the visor. There are no dice. Basically zero signal. So I took some photos and was about to send it back and write a review when I noticed the static bag said "Instructions Here: (Link)". So I went through the instructions and it turned out that I had installed the element incorrectly (I had covered the unshielded "antenna side" of the SDR). I flipped…

3X better repair with DIY modification

Great product for Stratux DIY. I like internal versus external GPS for all the usual reasons. I received the 30 meter fix BEFORE the custom change I made. I am NOW corrected to 10m and have much less wobble than before my addition. And it's on the floor in the backyard. Haven't tried it on an airplane yet, but prior to the mod I got a 30m fix in the air. So I added a piece of thin cardboard from a box of Coke cans. I carefully wrapped one side of the box with two layers of kitchen aluminum…
