I have always used a knife to cut corn on the cob, my husband's uncle is a farmer and grows corn, my father too. He showed me his corn stripper and I was impressed. Using a knife is a thing of the past. It's fast, thorough, less messy and not dangerous. I recommend it to people who grow a garden there and do canning.

BOUGHT THIS FOR MY WIFE BUT AFTER TRYING TO SEE HOW IT WORKS I WILL NOT GIVEN HER A CHANCE TO USE IT. MADE 3 DOZENS OF EARS TO FREEZE. SHE BLANCHED THEM FIRST AND THEN COOLED THEM IN COLD WATER. MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT THE CUTTER WAS NOT BIG ENOUGH BUT WORKED PERFECTLY EVEN ON LARGE INITIALS. THE WRENCH CAN TURN THE CUTTER WHEN YOU WORK FROM THE BEGINNING. TODAY I ORDERED ANOTHER FOR A FRIEND.

Wow I didn't know it was so easy to use. Hulling corn is like a hot knife cutting through butter. Works on all calluses I have. On smaller ones, some parts of the kennels are still attached to the butt, but you can easily flip them over to remove them. I ordered the 100% metal version, thinking it would be sturdy and metal would last longer. But now I think a plastic cap would work just as well. Highly recommended.

The product didn't come with instructions so it took us a few tries before realizing that it's best to use it horizontally rather than vertically. It won't stretch to accommodate thicker corn cobs. It can still be used on thicker ears, but it's a bit tougher and messier. A layer of corn remains on part of the cob, but not very much, and this layer is easy to eat from the cob. While this product minimizes the spilling of corn kernels around, it does not eliminate it.

What we liked: The product cuts deep enough to trap the germ but without peeling, basically without crushing the kernels, which was my main reason for buying it. I don't mind sacrificing ease of use for quality What went wrong: The cutter is welded to the inside of the sleeve on 2 sides. The weld on one side failed on the first use on #3 piston, it was still partially usable until the second side failed on #6 piston. The product could be improved with a better design.
