Nero Studio5: Exceptional 100W Hi-Fi Bookshelf Speakers - Black Wood Grain Design, Pair Review

I'm listening to these speakers right now and I have to say the sound coming out of them makes me smile. I bought these to replace my paradigm of experiencing jazz. The price is outstanding too.

Great speakers for the price, especially when used as surround speakers. Just make sure your amp can handle 4 ohm speakers. This is not mentioned in the description, but according to the papers supplied, they are 4 ohm speakers. The description should state that it is 4 ohms and not 8 ohms as many amplifiers and receivers are not rated for 4 ohm loads.

At a frequency of 90 frequency response, there are no mids at all. I compare it to an external TV speaker. Not for music - only for voice. My elderly mom uses them for NPR radio because they play louder than the small speakers that came with her Sanyo mini headset. That's what clarity is for, but it makes music sound flat and distorted. Check out Micca's suggestion instead.

I first bought an OSD amplifier (Nero Stream WiFi Class D 100W OSD DAC Amplifier) to breathe new life into some old (but beloved) speakers. It didn't work so I decided to try Nero Studio5 with a new amp. Wonderful! The sound of the amp/speaker combo is significantly better than my general purpose wireless speakers. I can clearly hear different "voices" in the music. What a joy!

The weight of these speakers isn't as great as I expected but my goodness I'm impressed with the sound of these cheap but excellent speakers. Packaging and assembly are also clean and of high quality. Pairing with an SMSL AD-18 class D amplifier [SDB mode at volume 20] gives a powerful effect. The bass is so good I turned off my Wharfadale WH-S8E, ACTIVE SUBWOOFER. Try playing Paul Simon's You Can Call Me Al on Spotify and you'll see what I mean. Let's start with fit. The vinyl wrap for these speakers isn't exactly ugly. They also have a sense of quality. The cabinets make a solid and well-made impression. The overlay rings on the woofer and tweeter feel comfortable, and the rear port is internally tapered to reduce port noise. The 5 sided mounting posts could be colored instead of clear plastic. In the future I might mark the end cup with a red dot as it's not that easy to tell which is which. Also, the woofer's dust cover looks cheap…

At the time of writing this review I have these speakers and have been listening to them extensively over the past 2 weeks. The point is, I really like her. I bought these speakers because they are identical in size to my acoustic Q 3020s and because I saw a YouTube video from Low Audio of him breaking and opening his copy of this speaker. I was impressed with the build quality I saw and the visible quality of the components. I can attest that the build quality is fantastic at any price point…
