Fairly cheap and flimsy

This item looks cute and makes a fun gift for young children (I would only recommend 3 year olds to younger students as it is very 'teen'/small baby looks ) . The problem is that it's made of lightweight plastic that feels very cheap and brittle. You can stuff the sides of the tube. It's a fun activity or activity for a young child, but the end product isn't necessarily something I'd want to display anywhere, not even in a child's room, because it looks so cheap and it would be easy toโ€ฆ

Not a lava lamp but as loud as a personal shorka

So I have a small disposable personal shorka that makes a deep tone. This "lava lamp" sounds exactly like that. The little particles you fill it with spin when you turn the bottom to turn it on, and the color inside changes randomly, making for a nice look, but the noise is distracting. Also, after about 5 minutes, a small piece at the bottom spinning the water will lift up and start making a louder glare. Reminds me of my ice cream finally hitting the blender blade. Basically, it's not anโ€ฆ

Great project for kids

This is very cute. It's just fun and interesting to watch. I love the idea of making my own lava lamp. It requires batteries so you can place it anywhere. But it doesn't heat up like a lava lamp, and the "lava" inside never crumbles or crumbles. I like that the water isn't heated for safety reasons. The dye that colors the water doesn't actually color it, it just adds a subtle hue that you can only see when it's on. We could experiment with food coloring later! I'm supposed to be negativeโ€ฆ

Not the best in the category of lighting and ceiling fans

We wanted to like it, but unfortunately we weren't very satisfied. My 8 year old daughter has wanted her own lava lamp for a long time. When I saw this I thought it would be a fun experience for her as she could make her own. Firstly, as soon as we took it out of the box we realized that it was very cheaply made. Very thin. She enjoyed collecting and making it, but as soon as we installed it in her room, she asked me to remove it because it was too noisy. We wanted it to be a night light butโ€ฆ

Made in China and looks like this๐Ÿ™

Depending on the age of your children and their care, you can make this inexpensive "lava lamp" much better. As others have said, it looks depressing when filled with water as instructed. We tried coconut oil and pink food coloring, and that small amount of liquid made a huge difference in the look. We also put glitter in the oil instead of any "little things". It floats and looks great, unlike plastic toys that puff up. The older girls (we had a unicorn) decided to ditch the stickers providedโ€ฆ

It's good if you know what you're getting.

I noticed a few reviewers who didn't seem to know what they were getting here, and who may not have realized that Lava Lamp has been making non-lava lamps with glitter and such for decades. Either way, it was a fun and quick project for a not-quite-teen. You can just throw everything in the lamp if you like, or you can take a more thorough approach by not using everything that's included. Either way, you give it a few batteries, fill it up with water, and it does its thing. The light transition

Girls Safe Craft Kit

This was a great craft kit for my granddaughter. She is younger and I was there to help her but we are very happy with the process and the end result. This is a craft for a child. There is no lightbulb here, no real lava liquid etc. But this is CHILDS project "lava lamp" in appearance and basic concept. The lamp does not come with batteries so it is important to have 3 AAA or a twist and no light effect on hand. The battery compartment is secured with two small screws. Because she's younger, Iโ€ฆ
