Girls Safe Craft Kit

This was a great craft kit for my granddaughter. She is younger and I was there to help her but we are very happy with the process and the end result. This is a craft for a child. There is no lightbulb here, no real lava liquid etc. But this is CHILDS project "lava lamp" in appearance and basic concept. The lamp does not come with batteries so it is important to have 3 AAA or a twist and no light effect on hand. The battery compartment is secured with two small screws. Because she's younger, I prefer the protected battery compartment. Even for bigger kids I still like that the batteries are fixed. First we decided to put stickers on the lamp. She placed them on a plastic ball and pedestal. Looking back I think the batteries should have been installed first but the compartment is safe. Turning around is no problem either. I haven't had any leaks. After the stickers, I opened each packet of beads, sequins, and glitter one by one. I poured them out and she put each one in a glass. Except for the glitter, we poured a whole bag into it. As my granddaughter is younger I saw this as a great opportunity to develop hand and eye skills. She took tiny objects and placed them in the lamp while I held them at an angle to her. Plus, it helped you last longer. I was proud of her for her focus throughout the craft. Various consumables and media caught their attention. After all the goodies were in the lamp, I filled it with water. She then had to select her photo to connect to the top of the screw on the lid. Choice of mermaid, unicorn and flamingo. She chose a unicorn for the demonstration. Each attaches with a simple push and pull to switch. The image in the middle can be changed as often as you like by simply unscrewing the cap. The device is turned on by turning the lower part of the lamp. At the bottom is a magnet around which the water swirls. I'd say most items swirl in it, but the glitter layer is on top. Again, this is a kids project and craft. It's supposed to be safe, and it is. A bit noisy in operation. My granddaughter didn't mind and neither did I. This will definitely be a hit with any little girl. My granddaughter has experienced a sense of accomplishment for her work and being able to see the movement of the water and the inner brilliance gives satisfaction to the little artist. This is her own little work and she loves to wear it. She was excited to show it off once it was done. This is a safe lava lamp that kids can make by themselves. There are millions of objects that are not real things that we children can play with. This is a cute concept that is easy for a kid to do.
