a 5L fills 2217 completely. Wash before use!

Should work great! Basically a bio home medium in the form of a small ball. Supplied in a plastic bag. Spheres made from melted sand particles, as opposed to the ceramic materials previously used. Prewash to remove loose particles and dust. All products are excellent but a bit expensive, quite delicate and need rinsing in a bucket until transparent.

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • Compatibility

The best media.

The best material for every canister filter. No need to buy new ones when they get dirty. Just rinse the media with warm/hot water and it will last forever. I have fluval fx5 and fx6. I buy 5 liters of eheim substrate for each of the filters. And I fill all 3 baskets with it. No need for bio rings or charcoal. It's just the best, no exaggeration.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Some problems

Large carrier volume, very porous.

The thing seems to be quite nice. You could probably fill six to eight Fluval 207 filter media, the 207 only has three. I bought more than I need for this but I think it's an excuse to get more tanks. I'm sure I could fill a nice big sump column with this, or some DIY bottle style air/sponge filters. Very porous material. Pretty dusty. I would wash if you can.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for older people

Guppy Tank for fish and aquatic animals

I use this in my Ecco Pro 300 in a 25 gallon guppy tank with built in UV light. I've had the same strain of guppy in this tank for over 8 years with no problems. No sick fish. The water is always crystal clear. I also do 20% water changes every week. I also use pothos plants to keep the water clear. No carbon, no ammo, no chemicals, nothing but water. I have been using Eheim filters and other products since 1982.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • High price

The best of the best in aquarium pumps and filters

Probably a better, more versatile biocarrier. It is a good size, the size varies from 5 to 7 mm. It appears to be a very porous surface. Compared to other media like ceramic rings or Seachem Matrix (I bought a large amount of Matrix and the material seems to vary a lot even what looks like rocks and shale. Will not slip through Rena XP shells. Will not cut media bags. Has a relatively long lifespan, the balls will degrade within a few years.(Faster if you rinse more often) (You will notice a…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • I don't really like anything, everything is fine

The product is good but not the best

If you are reading this article you might think that this is the best product, but it is not. That's better than ceramic rings by 450 m²/l, but not the best competition when compared to Biohome (506 m²/l), Matrix (700 m²/l) or JBL Micromec (1500 m²/l). Don't think it's bad, it works great against ammonia and nitrite, but its density doesn't work well with nitrate. If you also want to control nitrates, I recommend JBL Micromec or Matrix. They control ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Disappear

Best filter material from the world's best filter manufacturer

I've been keeping fish for almost 40 years and have been a die-hard eheim fan for almost as long. Günter Eheim was a visionary engineer and created the first line of filters that combined biological, mechanical and chemical filtration in a single system. The Pro Series remains the best filter money can buy. However, the cost is steep, although worth every penny. No matter what external filter you have, 90% of its effectiveness is directly related to the quality of the media used. No doubt the…

Pros
  • Consistent test results

  • A newer model could have been chosen
