This stand comes with legs so it can be used separately. The legs were not attached and the screw holes were not pre-drilled. Very disappointed.

I really like this stand. There are slots for many rulers. My smaller ones only fit in one slot. The larger ones fit in 2 or 3 slots wide. There is also space in the back for cutting rugs, but I didn't have any extra space so I used that space to accommodate thicker rulers and two spinning rugs. The stand sits on the carpet under my editing table and so far has stayed upright but feels a bit unstable (maybe it's ok on a hardwood floor).
