Description of Sun Company TempaComp - Ball Compass and Thermometer Carabiner - Outdoor Accessory for Hiking, Backpacking, Camping - Clip On to Backpack, Parka, Jacket

LARGE BALL-COMPASS - Easy to read ball compass shows two readings. Look directly down on the top (smaller card) of compass to view general orientation cardinal points. Hold compass up to eye level and view larger side card for "direction-of-travel" compass. EASY-TO-READ THERMOMETER - Cushion-mounted thermometer provides an "at-a-glance" weather report. Thermometer reads down to a chilly -20°F or -30°C. HANDY CARABINER CLIP - Carabiner allows you to clip TempaComp onto any gear of your choice. From hiking and camping gear to backpacking and climbing, the TempaComp is the perfect accessory for your adventure. Just clip and go!. SPLIT RING INCLUDED - TempaComp comes with a split ring so you can attach to your zipper and use it as a zipper pull or attach to a keychain for convenient use. NOTE: DO NOT USE THE SIDE CARD FOR GENERAL ORIENTATION PURPOSES. DOING SO WILL CAUSE READINGS TO BE OFF BY 180°.

doesn't feel solid at all.

the ball on the keychain is glued with superglue or something similar and has already moved. The frame seems so thin I can't tell if it's plastic or metal. For €10 you can find something better.

Pros
  • certified
Cons
  • crumpled

Decent compass in Compasses

It seems to be doing its job very well. Not a big fan of the face on the compass. I could see this being confusing for someone who doesn't have a good "inner compass" or who is learning to use a compass. I just hang it on my backpack so I can get a rough idea of pace and direction if needed.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Modern

Neat little combo. . .

Nice combination - the compass works well although it would be difficult to line it up with the map. The temperature also seems accurate, although it's a little hard to read. Not as easy to attach as you might think (the carabiner doesn't seem to open like I expected). Well made, high quality materials.

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Blank

The thermometer broke, the glue on the compass came off

It was in the sun in my backpack and the thermometer now has a few lines of liquid running the length of the thing. The compass still works fine but I had to re-glue it where it is held on aluminum. I've tried putting the thermometer in the freezer and swirling it around with string to get the liquid, alcohol I'm guessing, back into the container, but that didn't work. I had high hopes, but it didn't come true.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • I vaguely remember

Ridiculously Bad: Compasses

A week later the thermometer and compass failed, they were just hanging on a key hook by the front door. I wasn't going to use it at all for a week and just see if it really falls apart like people say and it does. This is so bad it's even funny. I suspect it gets a star because it actually points in the right direction (if you keep it away from metal) and measures temperature. If you buy one, put super glue on it to hold it together.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Unemployed

Maximum benefit in one place

Glad to have them back in stock. I've been looking for an alternative to a hiking bag that has a compass and thermometer in one place and I haven't found it. Everything else is stupid and/or has the wrong functions. This globe compass is a classic. A globe suspended in liquid is the perfect way to level and get compass readings at any tilt, and once you understand that the tops are for maps and the bottoms are for aiming, it's very easy to get into the right one direction to go (and if you tie…

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • Only available in black

Lately I've been adding little compasses to my kayaks and life jackets. I wasn't happy with the first brand I bought so I bought several other small compasses from different companies. This is best of all; well made for its price, practical and accurate. A quick note on using this compass, it is primarily labeled as a directional compass. There is a smaller set of markers showing the cardinal points, but the large and bold markers are for direction. To use larger markers, attach the split ring…

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Hard to tell

If I don't see mountains, you need a compass that works! 😒

I was very interested in a compass/thermometer combo that I could easily carry around with a key fob attached to it. This product seemed perfect for all of those attributes, but one of the two functions it was supposed to perform clearly didn't work at all. By that I mean the fact that the compass does NOT work at all! The reason that was so obvious and simple to me was because I live here in Aurora, Colorado and it's easy to know which way you're facing just because you know you're looking…

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • New competitors are here
