These bulbs have a cut out in the middle. This means that if you try to use them with a suction cup on the ceiling of a cathedral, the suction cup has very little surface area to grip (I also have a monstrously sized suction cup, not a standard suction cup). As a result, the suction cup slides very easily even when simply screwing in the light bulb. The saving grace is that the lids are plastic, not glass.
