Raspberry Pi Compatibility

This product is compatible with Raspberry Pi, which is amazing. I had some starting problems but I got over them. The pins to and from the rpi are as follows: VCC - pin 1, 3.3 volt RST - pin 22, GPIO25GND - pins 6, 9, 14, 20 or 25, personally I have used pin 6, MISO - pin 21, GPIO9MOSI - Pin 19, GPIO10SCK- Pin 23, GPIO11NSS- Pin 24, GPIO7IRQ- Don't Attach to rpi I used: http://bsd.ee/hadara/blog/?p=1017&cpage=1#comment-845 and it was extremely helpful. Hope this helps others: I'm giving this a…

fake / fake. That does not work.

Reading out the firmware returns an unknown value and the board hardly works anymore. This is seriously buggy and constantly expires or goes into a dumb/bug state. I bought a real RC522 board from a local shop, hooked it up to my Uno and it works fine. Some cards from this buyer may be good, but the one I received is definitely not.

Pros
  • I'm looking forward to it
Cons
  • Almost everything is there

No Pinout Guide - Company Website Dead?

This unit does not come with a pinout explanation and if you look at the reviews you will find 3 different pinout guides; because the company didn't even bother to offer a 2 x 3 inch piece of paper with an explanation of the pens. In addition, when you try to access their website, you get SSL errors, which are usually for beginners who do not know how to set up a website. FIND ANOTHER BRAND OF RFID READERS TO BUY!

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Nothing here

Great product! Activate RFID.

We had a fake Micro Center that had some bugs in the software. When that failed, we bought this board, the card, and the SunFounder chip. It worked immediately, is reliable and the code is stable! Definitely recommend the product and company.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled

Works well - computers and accessories

This isn't the cheapest RFID reader, but it has connections already soldered in and is perfect for a breadboard. Also, this is one of the few readers that's from a fairly reputable company, as many of the other readers I looked at were from obscure Chinese companies.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Empty

Used with Adafruit ESP8266 Huzzah Feather

I got this to work using Adafruit ESP8266 Huzzah Feather. Works perfectly! Very decent range (2.5 inches or so with Mifare Ultralight markings), better than I expected! Use hardware SPI pins to connect to Feather and make sure you don't use secondary SPI pins (GPIO 12/13/14) for the Chip Select (CS) pin. Also avoid all other contacts used for downloading.

Pros
  • Robust Finish
Cons
  • Frequency
