Ideal for crowded places and city streets

Thank you for a product that warns others in noisy environments. I've tried other sound generating devices but people will still bump into my wheelchair, especially in crowded malls. With this new device, people are more aware of my presence. The only problem is the voice mode. The sound is blurry, static noise and high-pitched tones. However, this is a great product, I don't usually use voice mode, other sounds are more effective.

Pros
  • Perfect for a small home
Cons
  • Some small things

Funny sounds, sirens at good volume but microphone is too quiet

Sirens sound great. Good volume. The microphone volume is too low. I even made a change suggested by a reviewer - moved the negative 9v battery lead from one side of the speaker to the other side (towards the brown speaker wire) to improve volume. The sirens are louder, but the volume of the microphone is not sufficient. Now that I've modified it, it's "good enough" but still not as loud as the sirens. Still a fun toy, especially at such a low price.

Better than I expected

Based on the reviews and the fact that this is a child's toy, I expected it to be as loud as the greeting cards you open and the siren goes off. To my surprise it was quite noisy. Even the microphone was pretty loud. However, the picture is not accurate (EDIT: 12/5/12. Looks like the picture has been updated). The real device looks like a yellow and black siren but has a better quality wire (twisted wire) than the attached picture. to a CB-like microphone that attaches to the back of the horn…

Quick fix for scratchy/harsh sound

Please read how I found a way to fix scratchy microphone and scratchy sound. The battery pad wires may be a few inches longer as one of them broke trying to connect. Batteries, and I had to disassemble the case to solder the connection. Before soldering the wire I tested the wire at each connection to the speaker. At the point where it broke (another black wire), the speaker sounded hoarse and creaky, with no clear voice or siren. I connected the wire to the opposite terminal (brown wire) and…

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

I still remember the funny smile on his face when I whistled.

A huge flood of memories from my 198x childhood when I had batteries in this thing! I had a model just like that, only the horn was white, not yellow. I clearly remember asking my father if I could try it in front of the house. I still remember the funny smile on his face as I whizzed by on my bike and turned on the various emergency sirens. After buying this for my kids I got the same funny smile and now I know why. You know those neighbors who have weird clocks? They like to stay up until…
