Description of Supco EM20 Anemometer Velocity Temperature

Vane anemometer measures air velocity in m/s, fpm, knots, mph, km/h, and Beaufort scale, and also measures air temperature in degrees C and F. Maximum and minimum function displays highest and lowest readings since the meter was powered on or reset. Hold function freezes a reading on the display to aid documentation. LCD shows air velocity and temperature measurement simultaneously and has a backlight for visibility in low light. Auto power-off mode shuts down the unit after 20 minutes of non-use to conserve battery life.

Unreliable and Inaccurate Anemometer

Based on our own experience, this anemometer is not worth the investment. The readings were consistently incorrect and varied greatly from actual airflow and temperature measurements. The only positive is the compact size, but that doesn't make up for its poor performance. Overall, we do not recommend this anemometer for anyone needing accurate airflow and temperature readings.

Pros
  • Accurately measures wind velocity and temperature.
Cons
  • Requires the user to manually hold and position the device, which may affect measurement precision.

NO CFM option

Everything seems fine but it DOES NOT READ A CFM and that's what I needed. A very nice cover is attached to protect the fan. A great idea.

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • High price

Not for outdoor use in direct sunlight

This unit works as advertised but is NOT intended for outdoor use so I bought it. It gets four stars because it does what it's supposed to do, but if you want to use it outside, buy something else. It turns out that the sensor for the anemometer is based on measuring how many times the leaves of a leaf pass a pair of UV SENSITIVE sensors. Under direct sunlight and bright indirect sunlight, these sensors measure no change in illumination as leaves pass. This reduces the speed to ZERO. Go into…

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember
