You get what you pay for

It's easy to use, but don't expect the accuracy you'll get from one of the high-end dowels. It's disappointing that there don't seem to be any dowels that fall somewhere between ultra cheap and ultra expensive.

Wrong size holes

I have another mount that needs to be centered manually and has the correct hole size. This one doesn't work with the new Dewalt 7/16" bit which is why I bought it. It was too tight even for the drill to hit 10% of the hole. Of course I waited a long time before returning it.

A poor quality tool is a waste of time and money.

This product was not correct at all. Unless it's permanently off. See image. As you can see, there is more distance to the edge of the tree on one side of the hole than on the other side of the hole. This tends to twist the two joining edges out of alignment. Guide bushings are made of low-quality metal and are easily deformed by a drill. Hardened steel should be used. The photo shows a deformed guide after drilling 48 holes. save your money The last guide moves when I put the hole drill in it,

Good quality and accuracy

I ordered this dowel tool specifically to use a 7/16" hole size in my project. The problem is that the hole is 7/16" and not 0.4375" " + is clearance in a few thousandths, it was only .4225". The block is made of carbon steel so it is not easy to pierce to work properly. I ended up using a 1/2" hole that was just the right size for the 1/2" drill bit to easily go through with no play. I haven't tested inserts for smaller sizes other than trying to screw one. The threads didn't fit properly, it…
