Great set at a great price

I think this set of fire starters is very good and worth the money. All products are of high quality, the knife is strong and sharp, the metal scraper is thick and will not bend when used. Good quality thick wooden sticks, they have a needle smell. I've seen some reviews saying the metal can itself is fragile or cheap, but you can definitely use it for one of those junk collection kits. All in all it's definitely worth it.

Perfect size for easy pocket keeping

This is a very well built fire set that has everything you need to start a fire. The size is perfect for easy storage in your pocket, bag, car or motorcycle. The tin it came in was quite crumpled but the company was very quick to respond and went out of their way to send me a new tin. So I'm happy with that. Good purchase, good price and I am definitely happy with this purchase. Once I have this replacement lens I'm sure I'll be buying a few more for friends and family.

Good little safety and survival kit

Perfect little fire starter kit. The first bag set I bought was a few dollars less and didn't include a knife or saw, but it was still a great fire starter set. I liked it so much that I decided to buy a few more for my grandkids. That's when I saw the "luxury" set with saw and knife. It's bigger and a little heavier, but still pocketable and lightweight. All items in the set are of good quality. In general I was very happy with the price and the quality of the kits. My grandchildren are very…

Doesn't hold water.

I would describe the contents of the set as acceptable. I would have preferred the Ferro rod to have a lanyard opening but there are no complaints about the contents of the kit. My claim to the most pewter. The seam at the bottom of the container is leaking. So if you were expecting to get a glass to boil water in a pinch you would be very disappointed. also will allow water, which of course is undesirable. The tape around the cover is not enough to seal it when the kit is submerged in water…

Saw is the Biggest Drop

I've been a hunter, trapper, and professional tracker all my life. I have searched and rescued with my now 9 year old pit bull who is rescue/recovery trained. A few years ago I had to stop to break my ankle and heel when my horse fell off a cliff during a rescue. I was always the only person on the hunt who had a survival bag, pistol and rifle. However, I never travel with new equipment, I check everything at home. This is an amazing set, perfect heartwood, small knife (why I bought this set)…

Bigger than expected but quality seems good

Much more than I expected. I wouldn't classify this as "pocket" or "survival" per se; This is about 1.5-2 times larger than an Altoids style can in all dimensions; It's the same LxB as the company's kits, starting with "Best" and ending with "Glide", only much thicker. The content is okay though. I'll probably split greasy wood sticks and slivers between my existing flint and steel (actually rock and metal) sets in Altoids cans and repurpose the Ranger's can and bike tube for something else. A…

5 stars for quality!

I am very satisfied with this product and will try to keep my review as short as possible. The Ferro is a great quality rod, it's softer so it throws more spark and the included striker/bottle opener does a great job. The included knife also works well for piercing the ferro bar, as well as piercing with traditional flint and steel when removing some paint. A wire saw works well for cutting small trees if you know how to use it. I've started a few fires with greasy wood, but just like dust, I…

Very complete high quality fire set

I have purchased photo products from Steve in the past and have been very happy with the results of the packaging. In search of primitive fire starter kits I bought a few from other vendors and they were mediocre at best. I saw this popup on my suggested purchases and immediately bought 2 knowing how complete Steve's items are. I bought one each for myself and my boyfriend. I have to say that Steve does not disappoint. The fat wood was fresh and smelled wonderful. The wood dust was also very…

Everything you need to start a fire in 1 set.

Why did I buy this Steve Kaeser Pocket Survival Fire Starter Kit? because everything you need to start a fire is in one set. It's really not easy. The kit is good value in my opinion and the parts are of good quality. Everything in the photo was in my set. I read other reviews where maybe 1 item was missing (but Steve did a good job) but not in my case. While I haven't used my kit yet I have no doubt that it will work as intended. A small knife about 3 3/8 inches, it was sharp, it wasn't razor…
