Description of SVBONY Barlow Lens 5X 1.25 inch: Fully Multi 🔭 Coated Metal Thread M42 - Ideal Telescope Accessory for Astronomical Observations

5x magnification;high power magnification for any 1.25'' eyepiece;double the capacity of an existing set eyepieces at the cost of a single eyepiece. Bright and clear view;fully multi coated broadband coating optical lens allows look more closely and more detailed at the moon's surface and other planet clearly. The apochromatic barlow lens provide high power magnification allow looking more closely and more detailed at the moon's surface and other planet. The lens edges and inner barrel is blackened to provide maximum contrast;chromatic corrected;provide high transmittance;ensure clear and sharp images. Male T-thread on its back that can attach DSLR camera and other T thread type accessories;it accepts 1.25" filters;just remove the optical glass part and add the filter on if need.

Maybe you have a broken one?

I bought x2 and x5 pieces. X2 didn't focus at all! Moon, Jupiter, nothing in focus with him. Now x5 gave me something like a blurry object with a very dark background. Despite the magnification (2.5x instead of 5x), the image quality is too bad to be appreciated.

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Repair

The purchase is worthwhile for your telescope

so I'll be direct. The image improves if you have a Celestron X-Cel LX 7mm lens with a 900mm Celestron telescope. There are still issues with Venus and Mars blurring, so you'll need to use a color lens. On Jupiter you can see the color of the 5th planet with little banding, but you still need a decent color filter to see Jupiter a little more clearly. Saturn comes out great and the rings are well defined

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • is confusing

Amateur opinion on telescope and microscope accessories

As an amateur I am satisfied with this Barlow lens. I've had my Celestron Omni AZ 102 telescope for a week now. Barlow showed up just in time for me to conjunct Jupiter and Venus with it. With the 10mm eyepiece that comes with the telescope I can see the rings of Venus and the moons of Jupiter, but this Barlow lens makes them much clearer. I've found that when I swap out a plain eyepiece, I need to refocus the telescope. I noticed that some reviewers have mentioned not having to refocus.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Negative impression

Big. Decent quality for the price

Great. Decent quality for the price. The shaft you insert into the telescope is a bit short and unthreaded, which can cause a heavy eyepiece or camera attachment to weigh the telescope down. Make sure you only use these in clear viewing conditions when fog, ambient light or thermal radiation is coming from the ground (ie don't mount over sand/mud/concrete), this Barlow can produce a grainy image. Although with the right settings I crater the moon and separate the nebulae. Can spot storms on…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Unreliable

First-class optical quality: no complaints!

5x Barlow is probably the most useful for creating powerful digital images with a CCD camera; rarely does the visual observer MUST increase the magnification of the eyepieces by 5x. However, the Svbony products I used to buy were so good that I decided to buy one as a "test". I was surprised it worked and there was no real difference between using it to get a certain high output and choosing one of my regular equivalent focal length eyepieces. If you rarely do planetary observations and mainly…

The mechanics are good but the optical element is not

The mechanical body is in solid anodized aluminum and can be easily disassembled. The lens is in a cell that is removable from the bottom (inlet end) of the assembly. If you remove the lens cell, you have a simple 1.25" to T-mount mechanical adapter for front projection. The top (output end) receives 1.25" eyepieces, allowing you to insert the eyepiece to close the eyepiece project. All of this works well since you're not using the optics that come with the unit. What's disappointing is the…
