Not 90 degrees. for measuring and marking tools

Anything but square. A square's only purpose is to be a square! It wasn't close. It was deflected more than one degree instead of 90 degrees. Don't waste money. If you need precision, this tool is not for you.

Pros
  • Anodized aluminum frame for durability
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly

Great easy square for measuring and marking tools

Handy square so I don't have to carry a large 12" tool in my tool bag and it works well. I still don't know what that little sliding plastic tab at the end is for. My colleagues and I are really, kinda stupidly curious about it.

Pros
  • 45Β° square in handle for added angle square function
Cons
  • Crumpled square

I love Swanson products

Also associated with Savage Tools. Both companies make great products. As a carpenter with forty years of experience, I am very picky about my tools. Form, function and cost are very important. For you carpenters, these two companies are woodpeckers for the poor. For your contractors, these two companies have their entire line of products geared towards you. Check their website, they are great products.

Pros
  • Finely engraved stainless steel ruler with black graduation, measures 10" outside, 8.5" inside (approx. 1.75" wide)
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Good idea but horrible design

Bought this as it looked like a more useful speed square when I was trying to arrange things neatly but unfortunately got it wrong. Very poor design, all easy to write notches offset about 1/16 inch. Inside-out measurements are not the same as a simple fracture. The orange section is 1 9/16 inches instead of 1 1/2 inches, so try aligning something at the top. The bottom is 1/16 inch different and can be confusing. The stainless steel section scratches and stains very easily.

Pros
  • Extendable stand helps keep the square in place
Cons
  • Damaged

Good idea but horrible design

Bought this as it looked like a more useful speed angle when trying to arrange things neatly but unfortunately wrong Very bad design , all plain cuts are offset by about 1/16 inch. Inside-out measurements are not the same as a simple fracture. The orange section is 1 9/16" instead of 1 1/2", so align some 1/16" top to bottom and it can get confusing. The stainless steel section scratches and stains very easily.

Pros
  • 45Β° angle in handle for added function as angle angle
Cons
  • Not sure
