Get ready to order more rubber blade guides.

Great knife for cutting paper. I use it to cut vinyl for my t-shirt shop and it even cuts through thick vinyl. I will have to order more rubber guides because I use them a lot, but they are the best. Because of the 15" width, I can get large rolls of vinyl. I have to order another one.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons

A cut above

Smooth and easy cutting of an almost perfect line, spinning knives always wobble a little. The supplied blade was too stiff and deformed, you couldn't see the deformation but the cut proved it. The cuts varied, as did the girth of the blade. When I called support they thought it was something else but I insisted it was a blade and they sent me a new pack of 2 blades and they worked great.

Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • Discontinued model

Cuts unevenly

This is the second Swingline SmartCut trimmer I use and neither of them cut the paper straight, the cut line was more like a wave even though it was bladed straight. The blade didn't follow the lead, so there's no way to cut with great precision. I don't know if the cutting mat is to blame or just bad design in general. I've mostly used vinyl cutters to crop photos and the Swingline SmartCut falls far short of doing the job necessary. I regret not having bought a Dahl trimmer instead, they used
