Symmons 261XBODY Temptrol Brass Pressure-Balancing Shower Valve: Enhanced Control with Service Stops Review

Arrived quickly as expected but when we finally got around to installing it we found it wasn't right works. When the valve is set to fill the tub it allows pressure to flow to the shower head as shown. Very disappointing as that now means removing the wall and redoing the plumbing. Disappointing considering that it was performed by Revane.

I have a Symmons shower valve that is 25 years old and it started dripping when closed. Rather than hiring a plumber to replace the shims, I decided to purchase this item and just use the stem assembly to replace my old stem assembly. I could buy a repair kit, but I couldn't always just change the shims. So I fixed my drip valve for $50 and it only took 20 minutes.

Misleading descriptions and pictures led me to order this part but it is not what we wanted. We got to the point where the plumber installed it! If you wish to incorporate a retractable lever into your valve you will need to order part S262BODY. Yes, in hindsight I would recommend that your plumber/contractor order the part based on the features you want. Then they are in charge and can even order "easier to install" parts to make their job easier.
