Good with 8 IP Cameras

For privacy reasons I avoided a surveillance system that uploads data to the cloud. I bought this NVR1218 to replace my existing NVR. The whole setup is expensive (NVR $200 + 2 x 2TB drives $120 + 4 additional licenses $200 + 8 cameras) compared to a monthly subscription ($10/month) for other home surveillance devices, but I knew it was going to happen becomes. Performance: Sustained CPU usage (12%, RAM 52%). I set up two streams per camera (Main @1080 7fps and Secondary 640x480 10fps). Usesโ€ฆ

Very good if you tweak your camera and streaming setup.

Bought this almost a year ago to pair with an Amcrest 4K camera for my front yard. I was familiar with the basic setup of a Synology system and it's no different than setting up a Synology NAS - it was very easy and only took about 30 minutes. Since I only wanted to use one camera with it, I set up two logical cameras, both accessing the same physical camera. One operates in 24x7 mode and records sub-streams (640x480) continuously, while the other is event-triggered and records events in 4Kโ€ฆ

Feature rich, safe and stable but low power consumption

The old clichรฉ "good, fast, cheap: pick two" sums up this product. Here we have good and cheap. I have been using Synology NAS devices for many years and have found Synology products to be extremely reliable, customizable, and secure. This device has it all. Synology NVR software is simply superb and camera brand agnostic, allowing you to choose cameras based on your specific application. The key feature of Synology Surveillance Station is that each camera requires an additional license. Thisโ€ฆ
