Not impressed; sticks all the time

Ever since I installed this on my water softener it's been sticking all the time. If I forget to go to the pump room every few days and knock there, there's air in the lines. It works fine when I click on it, but it doesn't want to open by itself. It's pretty much the same design as the one he replaced and the old one never had a problem until the plastic parts became brittle with age and broke. I suspect most designs are similar, but I'll try a different brand.

Taco 400-4 1/8 " NPT Float Air Hy-Vent

Very high quality upgraded kettle vent. Easy to install and works way better than others I've tried in the past. There was a brief period of rapid venting and then within 10 minutes all splashing stopped and all air was purged from the system. It looks like the boiler's other valve vents will only last a few months before clogging and leaking again. . This valve works on a slightly different principle, using a float in a closed chamber. I suspect this should continue throughout this season andโ€ฆ

Best Auto Air Vent

I've tried Watts, coin operated and a few other common types but this one is the best. The handle on top feels functional, like a little twist makes a difference. With vents like Watts, the grip has a lot of play and you don't feel how open it is. Also, I've had water leaks at Watts that I've never had at Taco. I don't see myself buying any vents other than this one. I'm taking off one star because it was packaged poorly and arrived quite crushed. It is my understanding that the internalโ€ฆ

Easy to replace, leaving time to clean the old ones.

Easy-Pasey to replace my hardened calcified hi-hats with these new ones and they work great. I always leave the caps screwed on slightly so that they automatically vent. (Some people open them temporarily but usually keep them closed.) They vent the pipes and keep water out once the air is deflated. I replaced very similar ones that were about 10 years old and had limescale build up in and around the exhaust valve. The accumulation resulted in a continuous dripping of water. Same model the pros use, easy to install yourself to save some money

Same model number as my heating contractor used in my system before, but they're $160 required to replace this and a Caleffi machine. Ventilation. This automatic taco air vent was very easy to replace. Shut off the water supply, close the existing ball valves to isolate the boiler or zone, drain the boiler until the pressure gauge drops to zero. Unscrew the old valve, put teflon tape on the new one and screw on the new valve. Reverse the process and you'll be done in 10 minutes. Be sure toโ€ฆ

No more gurgling noises from my radiators!

I felt the need to write a review for this float valve. This new float valve replaces the old generic float valve on my cast iron water heater. I remember buying an old float vent at a regular hardware store about 6 years ago. Over the last few years I have constantly tried to remove air from the boiler system. I remember spending at least an hour and a half a week venting all three zones through their vents. No matter how hard I tried, no matter how many times I completely flushed the entireโ€ฆ
