After much effort in sharpening and trueing, the tool still won't pick up the blade. Expected more from Tandy.

Designed for ease of use and good balance. You had to grind the blade to get it fully sharpened, but it wasn't bad for an industrial tool. Most of the tools I've bought have had to be touched up before use anyway.

Love the fit and finish of this French grinder. As with any tool with a blade, you will need to sharpen it to get the best results. Be careful when removing the protective coating from the blade before use, it can be quite a nuisance. I use this to peel off the card sleeves on my wallets.

I wouldn't normally complain that a new cutting tool isn't sharp. I like grinding tools. However, this particular tool is not that easy to sharpen and has a very poorly finished edge that was not only dull but uneven. The bevel is not straight and does not reach either side. Very cheaply made!

I was happy to receive this tool today but now I will try to return it. Arrived quickly, packaging looked good. I took it out and tried to use it immediately. nope Skeever was sharp as a soup spoon. I spent an hour sharpening it and then sharpening it. This baby had a highly polished blade when I finished! It still produced nothing but tiny shavings and dust. Oh, and the cutting blade was rounded!

I'll admit I'm still a novice at leatherworking but I think this is a very decent edger. It takes a little practice to get used to the angle, but once you get the hang of it, it will cut well. What confuses me is that the blade doesn't last very long before it needs to be touched up. There is a big difference between before and after sharpening with a belt that looks like a grinding knife. As this is the only edger I have I can't compare it to a more expensive product but I think it's good for…
