Tandy Leather Craftool� Stamp 66143 00 Review

This is a phenomenal design tool and I absolutely love it, my only "complaint" would be that it takes a lot of effort to make a good impression, otherwise I would recommend it for everyone who is looking for a spectacular design.

I love all my Tandy products except this one. This is a stunning stamp with a neat pattern. The only downside is that it's huge. Pretty huge. And while that's fine, you have to hit this thing really hard to make a good impression. I'll keep it to myself and try it on thinner skin. My fiancee had the patience to hit him. But like I said, it's still Tandy. It is high quality and strong as a nail. The pattern is exactly the same as in the photo.

It can be difficult to make a good impression in the center. Just experiment with the skin's moisture levels and gently tap the tool a few times. I usually start with a good impression and then use that to align the tool with some overlap for the rest of the drawing, making it easier and quicker to get an even drawing as it kind of wants to fall into the grooves of the last die. You can try to warm up the tool a bit.

I used this stamp to decorate a cigarette case/lighter I made for my dad for Father's Day (beekeeping is a family hobby but unfortunately I'm allergic). It was difficult to line up perfectly as it leaves flat imprints on the leather I used, but it looks amazing with the little honey bee imprint I have. I'm still new to leatherworking but for now I can tell the difference in stamp quality when I get something from Tandy or Weaver versus my standard starter set of stamps which already have metal…
