This product was extremely frustrating to work with. As someone who is new to Arts and Crafts, I found the instructions to be unclear and the process to be very difficult. Through trial and error, I found that the tool was not effective for stitching the leather and I ended up with a mess. The only positive was the quality of the materials used. Overall, I would not recommend this product to anyone just starting out in Leathercraft.

Great tool, bought this in 2012 and made more holes than I could count. I bought 6, 2 and 1 pen. Never bent, never broken, never had a problem, never had to sharpen. Mainly used for 14 ounce leather.

It's not a bad tool, but it's not great either. The tooth is fairly roughly cut and painted over. I sharpened the tip with a diamond sharpener and then polished it on a belt. It cuts well with little pressure. If you want to tweak the tool a bit, by all means get it. If you don't have the time or interest to bother with it, save up and buy the real deal.
