This thermometer is a great addition to any home and kitchen. The temperature reading is quick, accurate and easy to read. I don't quite understand why this thermometer is advertised as "instant reading". It took 30 seconds to reach 150 degrees. The only thing I like about it is that it looks well built. I will return it in favor of the Thermoworks RT600C which should reach the right temperature in 6 seconds.

Having used this meat thermometer I'm not sure what to expect from "instant read" compared to a standard meat thermometer. I didn't notice any difference in the time it took to get to the right temperature compared to my other standard meat thermometer. Perhaps I should have looked more closely at the details on the packaging, but the company's website for this product gives no indication of what to expect, so I suspect the packaging does as well.
