TCL SOCL300 are good but not great.

The colors are beautiful, that's probably the best thing about these unicorns. They're beautiful and unlike any other pair of headphones, you know they're yours. The cord isn't anything special, but at least it doesn't get tangled up too much most of the time. The sound in particular is good, but not outstanding. Even at a relatively low price, these headphones don't sound outstanding. They're clear, the highs and mids sound punchy, but I don't hear as much detail as with some other headphones…

Good headphones, great price, good fit

I wasn't expecting much at this price but was surprised. These earbuds are very comfortable right out of the box, they fit very well, and the earbuds are soft and fit your ears well (and they give you a spare pair). They let *some* of ambient noise through, so they're a good option if you don't want to completely isolate yourself from the sounds around you. Excellent bass response, nice tight mids and decent highs. I'm not an audiophile, but to me they sound very good when playing digital…

Price range

I'm pleasantly impressed - especially for the price. I compare them to Monoprice headphones and popular Panasonics in the same price range. The middle bass is well defined, not boomy. Some of these manufacturers emphasize mid-bass to create a fuller sound, but ultimately lose definition in the process. These headphones are a bit more mature; to understand that the listener can appreciate the full range of vertical bass. There is space between the instruments, which makes me feel more like I'm…

The current king is worth less than $20.

There is nothing special about these headphones. The cable doesn't look very durable. It's certainly not thick, and if I really tried, I could easily break it. Cheap plastic headphones. The packaging is bland and nondescript. If I had seen them on a shelf in a store I probably wouldn't have looked at them from the side. Rather than wasting money on things that don't really affect sound quality, TCL created a cheap kit that sounds amazing for the price. They are quite well balanced, with good…

The Verge's review is accurate: good price

I also bought it after reading a review on The Verge's tech site. I have two headphones that came with my Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S6 (I know the older models). While they don't sound as good as the Samsung headphones (the sound isn't as rich), they sound great for the price, and the value of these headphones is central to The Verge's review. They're about half the price of the 3.5mm headphones on Samsung's website (model EO-EG920LBEGUS), which I assume are upgraded versions of the S3 and…

Great price and overall great headphones

I'm a fan of the track "OMG AMAZING SOUND BEST EVAR HEADPHONES Under $20!". If I could add up all the money I spent on the supposedly amazing $15 headphones, I could buy myself a pair of very expensive in-ear headphones. But where's the fun in that? Some of these supposedly amazing under $15 headphones actually sound great. until they break. Or they hurt your ears so much that you can only wear them for 10 minutes. Or they break. (Most break). So these TCLs could be an exception. You are cozy…

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • Some nuance

I bought these headphones based on The Verge article "These $15 TCL headphones have no right to sound as good as they do" and I generally agree with them. Over the years I've bought many headphones in the $10-$60 price range in an endless search for the perfect low-cost pair of headphones. Most of the time you usually get what you pay for. If they told me these are $40 headphones, I would believe it just because of the sound quality. Construction is cheap so don't expect anything premium…
