Wow, I look old - Compact Fluorescent Bulbs

These bulbs are bright as day. I don't recommend putting 8 of these in the bathroom unless your face is naturally airbrushed.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Socket Required

Luminaire good, but one included bulb was defective

Luminaire good, but one included bulb was defective. As usual, Amazon replaces it. I'm waiting for the arrival of the new pear. Will update after I test them. Manufacturers must thoroughly test lamps before putting them on the market.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Some flaws

I am very satisfied with TCP lamps

I chose this lamp because I wanted to use a fluorescent lamp with very high light output for outdoor lighting. TCP doesn't produce LEDs with the same light output, so I had to choose CFLs instead. I'm very happy with the TCP bulbs, they're well made and haven't had any issues so far.

Pros
  • Compact fluorescent lamps consume 75% less energy with the same light output
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other models

Lamp failure rate + lifespan not acceptable

Very disappointing lifespan. Rating "9.1 years" at "3 hours a day". However, I ordered 3 packs of 10 pieces. So count 30 with me: I was supposed to start with 30 bulbs 26: but 4 are broken on arrival (as a bonus I get potential exposure to spilled mercury) 24: and 2 bulbs DOA: no light when put in socket will. 17: 5 bulbs burn out within the first 4 minutes of use. So now I have 17 good bulbs left out of 30 (a little better than 50% survivability). But wait. 9: Another 8 bulbs lasted less than…

Pros
  • Lifespan: 9.1 years
Cons
  • Will write later

Contains TOXIC substances!

CFLs contain mercury which is TOXIC! Here's what the EPA recommends: 1. Using heavy paper or cardboard, carefully collect the broken glass and powder and place the debris and paper/cardboard in a glass jar with a metal lid. If you don't have a glass jar, use an airtight plastic bag. (NOTE: Since a plastic bag will not prevent the escape of mercury vapor, remove the plastic bag(s) from your home after cleaning.) Powder. Place the used tape in a glass jar or plastic bag. 3. Vacuuming carpets…

Pros
  • Not dimmable
Cons
  • Slightly torn
