Description of Tekonsha 119250 T Connector

Activates a trailer's stop/turn/tail/running lights without cutting or splicing into your vehicles wiring system - simply snap on included current sensors. Use when: trailer has more than 1 light assembly per side and is equipped with multiple clearance or running lights; if tow vehicle may tow a variety of trailers; if tow vehicle has 'lamp out' sensors. Re-settable short circuit/overload protection - guards itself and the tow vehicle from shorts and wiring install mishaps; rated at 4.2 amps for turn/stop circuits, 7.5 amps for taillight circuit. Works on all vehicle types including standard, PWM and/or multiplex systems, ensuring full brightness of the trailer lights during operation; can be used on 2 or 3 wire systems.

Works perfectly! Best in Electrical

Purchased for my 2011 BMW 328I Sedan. Easy to install, the only extras you need is a built in fuse for the power cord and some electrical tape to keep everything tidy. **IMPORTANT** If the trailer daytime running lights do not work, replace the tail light sensor wire (not the brake sensor) with a license plate light wire.

Pros
  • Very Good Value
Cons
  • No Insurance

Good idea, but doesn't work

Great concept, but unfortunately doesn't work reliably. I followed the instructions exactly, but couldn't program it properly. So I took it a step further and connected one by one to let him learn. It worked at first, but after a while it got confused again and stopped working properly. Possibly if the sensors were shielded. I don't know. But as it is, I don't recommend it. (I tested this on a Tesla Model S)

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • So-so

No belt inserts!

This unit is only slightly more difficult to install than all those branch based kits. Taps are notorious for interfering with car electronics, most of which use impedance monitoring to determine if there is a fault in the bulbs, controls or stock wiring harnesses. If you own a car manufactured in this century, do yourself and your business a huge favor and instead of ruining the factory wiring, install this kit.

Pros
  • Shipped very quickly
Cons
  • Crumpled

"Never knew it would work " says the installer

Well I've tried it myself and after 36 machines you'd think I know what I'm doing! So, after a failed first try, I took it to a professional installer and he said he never knew anyone working with ZCI contacts. So everything is removed and another one will be installed tomorrow - saved money as I did the hard work but am now disappointed that I had to cut the wires. Fine. Lesson learned - let the pros do it, even with all my chops.

Pros
  • Acceptable
Cons
  • There are nuances

Works on a 2019 Metris Van

Works on my 2019 Mercedes Metris Van. It's easy to find wires to mount the sensors as the work cart has no inner coating. I had to remove and open the tail light to see which bulb and wire to connect. A lightbulb handles the tail, brakes, twists with a thread, and this converter figured it out. You have to program as they say, but it's easy to do. A little late on the trailer, but okay. The kit did not include a fuse holder and wire to the battery, but it's easy to buy in town, there was a fuse

Pros
  • Useful not only for its intended purpose
Cons
  • There are defects

Preview, I'll update it in a few months. And yes, I am angry.

The kit itself looks high quality and installation should not be a problem. HOWEVER, THE KIT IS INCOMPLETE AND YOU MUST PURCHASE THE ADDITIONAL "Cable Kit 118150 or 118151 sold separately". IT WOULD BE VERY GREAT IF THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS THIS INFORMATION. But that's not the case. Now that the long drive is days away and there are a thousand things on the list, I have to run to the local shops to find wires, plugs, a fuse holder and a few other items. More fuel costs, more time that I could use…

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some small things

Surprised it works!

Before purchasing, I had serious doubts that this would work. but i bought it anyway. After installation everything worked as described. I would give 5 stars if it had everything I need. Here are a few things I didn't like. If you could live with that, it would work for about 99% of all vehicles. First, the positive wire is black. The ground wire is usually black. Second, the positive wire is too short. You need to buy a longer cable. Finally. The instructions could have been better. Okay, now…

Pros
  • Easy-to-read control panel
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged
