Not only did it work great as a pre-filter, it also kept my fries out of the filter. One of them was enough for two of my power filters. Modification needed... With my Penguin 350 I had to make cuts on the inside to adjust the shape of the filter mesh and with the Whisper 3 filter I had to zip the pre-filter to the mesh as it was too loose. I also had to cut the back of the pre-filter so it was flat and there was space between the power filter downpipe and the glass. Great price and versatile.

I need a medium sized sponge filter replacement sponge (20 gallon recommendation) from Aquarium Co-op. Unfortunately I bleached my sponge after a suspected TB/fish mycobacteria outbreak and the bleach has rendered the sponge sticky and unusable. I received this pre-filter to cut and use in my 5.5 gallon top fin freshwater aquarium. We recently had an issue with 2 neon tetras and a ghost shrimp getting stuck in the feeder.
