I should have read more closely

I bought the HS2. Not suitable for a medium axe. this is XC3. It's so small it fits in a 3 pound sled. Very hard rubber. probably over 100 durometer.

Pros
  • Prevents damage to the handles on impact
Cons
  • I won't say anything

Fits large handle sledgehammers

Works great with a Husqvarna hand forged sledgehammer. I didn't heat it to put it on, but it was a little difficult. It also tends to twist on the handle but gets the job done and protects the wooden handle.

Pros
  • Hand tools
Cons
  • Out of style

Boil, foam with water, put on

The tight fit is good, just need to boil for 5 minutes, moisten and lather the stem, and then put on. It's good to go, and they've been on the sled to protect my walls for years. Just worth the cost.

Pros
  • Hammer handle
Cons
  • There are other interesting possibilities.

I can't believe I waited so long to get this handle saver!

These Savers pens are worth their weight in gold. I build and work with them pretty hard and have had to replace more grips for as long as I can remember. Now I have them on all ax handles and sledgehammers and I have never broken them since. Using an ax or sledgehammer regularly will definitely save you time and money. There's nothing worse than halfway through a job or project when your tools break and you have to start a new pen or get a new tool. Installation is easy, it takes some effort…

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • Damaged
