Purchased Thedford toilet 3 years ago; The first flushing cable lasted over 2 years. Broke at the end of April, replaced, lasted until July 30th, broke again, today 11th August, the cable broke again. I ordered a toilet from a competitor. Tedford's design (or whoever made it) is complete rubbish.

This is the 3rd cord I have had to replace in our Thetford toilet in 4 years. I don't know if it's bad cables or a design issue. Our previous cables broke once at the pedals and once at the valve. Decided to install a competitor's toilet to really solve the problem. .

The cable was the wrong length. The cable sheathing made it difficult to bolt the lower mechanism to the upper one, so the seal wasn't airtight and the toilet leaked. I used to have frequent problems with this Thetford toilet mechanism and ended up replacing the toilet with a Dometic.

The original cable lasted 20 years on our houseboat which is used every week in the summer. When I had to replace it, I used this cable. The replacement cable broke after three weeks of use. I'm glad I bought replacement cables! Maybe I did something wrong during installation. If the second cable breaks too soon I will downgrade my rating.
