Description of 🌡️ Thomas 4239 Traceable Refrigerator Thermometer with 2 Bottle Probes, Hi-Accuracy, -58 to 158 degrees F

High-accuracy refrigerator thermometer has -58 to +158 degrees F/-50 to +70 degrees C temperature range with +/- 0.3 degrees C accuracy for use in refrigerators, water baths, heat blocks, and incubators. Choice of temperature-buffered bottle sensor or waterproof probe sensor, and 10-foot long micro cable allows doors to be closed on it. Three-line LCD simultaneously displays minimum, maximum, and current temperature, and alarm provides visual and audible alarms for out-of-range temperatures. Meets CDC requirements for thermometers and vaccine thermometers, and includes NIST Traceable Certificate provided by an A2LA-accredited ISO 17025 calibration laboratory to ensure accuracy and traceability.

Impressed with the accuracy.

After I bought a new chest freezer I installed one of these thermometers. I am very impressed with the accuracy. Some may find it unnecessary to use one of these, but with several hundred dollars invested in the freezer and its contents I want to know if there are any problems as soon as possible. This device is designed to help!

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Something different

Calibration expires in half a year

I am disappointed that the calibration certificate expires in less than 7 months. This unit was originally calibrated and certified in February 2016 but wasn't shipped to me until late July 2017. It's old stock and it's important if you buy it because it has a calibration certificate. Now I have to buy another one in 7 months, no closer to 2 years. Consider this when making your purchasing decision if it's important to you.

Pros
  • Pleasant to use
Cons

Great for fridge calibration

I am using it with a two bottle sensor to calibrate the temperature controller offset for my built in Perlick fridge. I originally thought a 1 vial probe might be enough, but I'm glad I bought the 2 vial version instead. The temperature difference between the top and bottom shelves is between 2 and 4 degrees, even though the refrigerator has a circulating fan. I was able to set the differential perfectly so the soda cans on the colder shelf wouldn't explode while the warmer shelf was slightly…

Works great - digital thermometer

Update 11/18/2015: I report that this device still works perfectly and recommend it to others :) Apart from the strange behavior caused by sometimes bad batteries, I never had any problems with it. and I recommend one to my parents. Update 11/29/2013: Just wanted to write back that it's still working fine after a year. It saved a bunch of groceries in our fridge from freezing on Thanksgiving. I set the alarm to 31.5 and it worked. Our new fridge (with built in temp sensor) claimed to have 39 in

Great for fridge calibration

I am using this with a two bottle sensor to get the temperature controller offset for my built in Perlick fridge to calibrate. I originally thought a 1 vial probe might be enough, but I'm glad I bought the 2 vial version instead. Pros
  • Temperature buffered bottle sensor or waterproof sensor to choose from and a 10ft micro cable allows doors to be closed
Cons
  • Some small things

Recommended though. Suitable for Digital Thermometers

This was a very good setting but I didn't feel it was as accurate as the certificate says. The plastic case felt very solid and the wires and bottles were sturdy and the door closed easily. One thing that bothered me was that the two probes didn't agree on the temperature, even when they arrived they came with rechargeable batteries or good ones it seemed. Everything seemed top notch and the bottles held their temperature, if not naturally. The glycol in the freezer isn't frozen, which is good.

Pros
  • Precision Fridge Thermometer has a temperature range of -58 to +158 degrees F/-50 to +70 degrees C with an accuracy of +/- 0.3 degrees C for use in refrigerators, water baths, heating blocks and incubators
Cons
  • Not sure

Cheap plastic but performs well

I was disappointed with the plastic case. It's basically cheap plastic like the LCD thermometers you buy at any discount store. For the price, I was expecting a more robust, industrial-grade case. The alarm is not very loud and cannot be heard if the freezer is in a basement, a separate room or in a noisy environment. The sensor wires are slightly thicker than expected. If you run them under the door seal (as opposed to drilling a hole in the side of the freezer) they will create a small air…

Pros
  • Three line LCD display shows minimum, maximum and current temperature simultaneously and alarm gives visual and audible alerts if temperature is out of range
Cons
  • I have doubts
