Comfortable but has a hole in the heel on first use

These socks are comfortable and generally good for a day hike in the Great Smoky Mountains. BUT! They had a hole in the heel when I first put them on. I can't return them as I don't have the original packaging so I think I'm stuck with them.

Pros
  • Made in the USA
Cons
  • Not as thick as other styles

Still performing well

Worn on a recent 35 day trip to Botswana and Namibia. As expected, these socks have held up very well. They dry fairly quickly with a quick wash and hang. I've been wearing these socks instead of wool socks for a number of years now and am happy with their performance.

Pros
  • Flat toe seam does not chafe or irritate feet
Cons

Great summer hiking socks

I have thicker versions of the Thorlos hiking socks but they are really good for warm months and light hikes. The fit for my 11" feet is also just right. A curiosity, I ordered two pairs from Shoe Annex, one arrived today and the other seemed to arrive, but UPS left me a note saying a signature is required. Waste for a pair of socks, but okay, I'll be home tomorrow to get them.

Pros
  • Slip-on
Cons
  • Some issues

favorite Thorlos on Socks

Comfortable, moisture-wicking material with padding, yet thin enough to fit comfortably in most shoes and slippers. Gray goes well with most of my clothes. The only thing I hate is that the top band is too tight for me and I have to cut it off, but that goes for almost all of my socks. Even after cutting, they do not disintegrate in the washing machine or when worn. I've worn this model for years and would love to come back.

Pros
  • Anatomical design that follows the natural contours of the foot for a better fit
Cons
  • unreliable

Ideal for trail runners

I've been using these socks for trail hiking and running for several years. This is a good mix of thin but with a small cushion. Probably too thin for boots and very bumpy trails, but great for a trail runner or light hiking shoes (like the Merrell Moab). I personally prefer a blend of synthetics over many thin merino socks because they don't shrink over time. This fabric is also resistant to felting over time and the wear and tear that merino wool experiences. They respond better to washing…

Pros
  • Lightweight, lined socks for day hikes and casual wear on the road
Cons
  • No instructions
