Great lens at a good price

I used the Tokina 12-28 about 5 years ago and have used it daily for real estate photography, on the D7000 and the last 3 years on the D750. A very good lens on both a crop sensor and a full frame. mine bent after a fall, bought a month ago. Sharp and reliable on the Nikon D750.

  • Long range

Nice upgrade from the old 11-16mm Tokina lens

Great lens. I had the original Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X Pro DX lens and decided to upgrade to this for longer range and internal focusing. I definitely don't miss 11mm and if I drop it I can go all the way up to 28mm where my primes start (at 30mm). With modern high-ISO sensors, I prefer the range of the faster and older version. This is not a problem for modern DX cases.

Great value for money

I needed a good wide angle lens for work, to shoot indoors and the occasional outdoor shot. This lens ticks all the boxes. Clean, very clear and bright images with little chromatic aberration. For my level of photography and what I use it for, it's great. It's also very light for a wide-angle lens. I was shooting with a Nikkor 14-24mm and it literally looks like it weighs 20 pounds. I have a Nikon D3200, the camera body is smaller so this lens is much better in size and weight for this camera…

One of the best lenses in its class

Good results overall. I chose this one after reading reviews and specs from Nikon and other Tokina (11-16mm) options. I chose the Tokina 12-28mm because it offers slightly more power and versatility (28mm side) than the 11-16 option. Build quality is close to Nikon's, with a solid feel, nice smooth and precise zoom ring and comfortable manual/auto focus. The lens accepts a circular polarizer or other filter. The image quality is very good, although you get a clear vignette with an open…

According to reviews I showed this one (and like Tokina 12-24mm)

I bought this lens for real estate photography (especially indoors). Reviews have shown that this lens (like the Tokina 12-24mm) is at least as good if not better than a similar Nikon lens at half the price. So far the photos I've taken have been very clear, but I find the autofocus a bit slow, and when I tried to photograph people it struggled to focus on the right subject (person) like my Nikon lenses do do. Snap it to 12mm with the built-in wide-angle flash adapter. It's built like a tank…

Probably the best buy for DX Wide

I always buy units after carefully researching each item online. At the time this lens was released, 11-16/2.8 seemed like the best option for a DX width, also from Tokina. Then this lens came along, and while it was still fresh on the market and didn't have as many reviews as 11-16, the fact that it went all the way to 28 (a unique zoom range in a wide-angle lens) made me give it a shot and buy it immediately. It turned out to be a great investment. Despite being a notch slower than the 11-16,

Pleasantly surprised

I have to say I was a little nervous about purchasing this lens. My only other experiences with Tokina were their 11-16mm and I bought them to rave reviews and returned them after use. Deep down in some reviews, which I didn't notice at the time, there was a huge field curvature, starting at 14mm and peaking at 16mm. Of course the center was very sharp, but the offset of about 2/3 was terrible. I needed a wide angle that was consistently sharp throughout the zoom range from corner to corner…

Nice wide angle DX lens that also works with FX in most of its ranges

Nice lens. I bought one (elsewhere) which had an image quality flaw that was very apparent in testing (it had poor clarity when shooting beyond f/6), especially when you were trying to shoot something up close. It's not really the main use case for the lens, but I ran into a defect that then drove me nuts. I sent this back (eBay seller) and bought a replacement here which was unaffected by the defect. Despite the fact that I received a defective one, I'll give this one a 5/5. When choosing this

Great all-round wide-angle lens for crop sensors

The Tokina 12-28 f/4.0 is a great wide-angle DX lens that really excels in its combination of versatility and excellent image quality. Although Tokina makes other lenses somewhat similar to this one (e.g. the 11-16 and 11-20 at f/2.8 and the older/cheaper 12-24 at f/4.0), I think that the wide-angle focal range helps make this camera stand out from the rest. PROS: //+/ The image quality is really great - the images are sharp and I haven't had any issues with dull or inaccurate colors. I didn't…
