Bad investment in equipment, stops working after 4 months.

Only 4 months lens life. I'm a real estate photographer. All my work gear is packed in a soft pelican case. I do about 12 houses a week. One day I just hear something rolling in the lens, zoom and focus are locked, it's become useless. Photos are crisp and colors are good, but when it comes to durability, this isn't a professional lens. Absolutely not recommended. The worst investment I've ever made in equipment was buying used lenses (kept in the same Pelikan case) and using them for over 4…

So far, so good. - SLR lenses

I just received the lens and am still testing it. For now, this is an excellent lens for a quality, wide-angle, "budget" zoom lens. I bought it mostly for the net worth of other competing lenses ranging from $900 to $1200 for less or equal performance on paper. The lens feels really good in the hand as it is (I think) mostly metal. This lens is very similar to the Sigma brand lens. It has a very nice way of toggling between AF and MF which I like, basically you're pushing or pulling the focus…

Pros
  • Package weight: 1400 grams
Cons
  • Some defects

I like this lens. It's super spicy. Autofocus is smooth and fairly quiet - there's noise, but it's quiet. The autofocus is precise and fast. The clutch that allows you to quickly switch to manual focus is brilliant - it's intuitive and very useful. The range of focal lengths inspired me to embrace my own holy Jewish trinity; EF tokina opera 16-28 f/2.8 aspherical, RF canon 28-70 f/2 L, EF canon 70-200 IS III f2.8 L. On my p5. I was going to listen to Polin and go for the 12-24 f/4 and I'm glad…
