Great pen but a bit squeaky

The brush on this pen is nice and doesn't lint (like some brushes/felt pens) but I have to say I was a bit disappointed to hear so many compliments on it. While the formula and brush are great and slightly above standard, there is a slight squeak when you push/pull the brush. It's not exactly smooth, and while it works for other people, it's a bit of a hurdle for me as it's vague, like nails on a board. In any case, I feel a slight discomfort in the feel/sound, but the brush itself is quite…

I'M IN LOVE! :):):):)

I LOVE TOMBOW DUAL BRUSH PEN! Tombow Brush Pens are truly amazing. I love that they have two tips, the brush tip is perfect for brushes and very strong, while the smaller tip makes nice little lines and is also very strong. These pens are absolutely amazing. The colors flow well, the colors are bright, the color palette is very wide. They may be more expensive than some of the other options, but they are by far the best. I definitely recommend them to anyone who likes to paint with a brush or…

Pros
  • Very good quality

Poor: Writing and editing accessory

I personally miss this pen when I'm writing, sketching or calligraphy. It's ok if you're new and looking for pens to try out Asian calligraphy, but I wouldn't use them for finished work. It also doesn't work very well as a sketch pen if you're into it. The tips aren't as precise and the ink isn't as deep in color. Since it's water based you can probably do cool things with watercolors, but I use my sketch pens so I prefer the darker black ink. As already mentioned, the tips are not brushed but…

Amazing brush

Amazing brush! I can write with an intermediate brush (I know it's not a word) and this pen is my best friend. One side is for big fanatical letters or regular sized doodles. The other end is for small, thinner letters and gives the final touch to the overall work. Grab a few different colors and arm yourself with a white gel pen and you're good to go. I've tried many brushes but this one is my favourite. It does not show through and does not lie on ordinary notebook paper and does not deviate…

Good quality pen and great for a variety of uses

The pen arrived on time and when I took it out of the box it wasn't in its own box which I found odd. I ordered the pen in black and it's amazing as I use it for my bullet journaling and lettering. The ink flow is smooth and I love that the pen gives you the option to switch between a soft writing tip and a hard tip for more consistency. However, I was expecting the ink to be darker when it comes out, but it takes a few coats for something to be completely filled with darkness. This is…

Tombow v. Kuretake v. Sakura

I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars. As much as I want to give it 5 stars, the ink is holding me back. Considering the price and all the hype (authors love this brush pen), I was expecting the ink to be 1) darker (opacity), 2) not smearing, and 3) not smearing as much. See attached photos of arm stains and bleeding on plain paper. That said, this is still my favorite brush pen that I've used for large lettering. I also tried the Sakura Brush Pen and the Kuretake Brush Pen. See photos for comparison.

Pros
  • Water-based ink, blendable, odorless and non-bleeding
Cons
  • Available in black only
