I liked the unique symmetrical design where both sides move evenly. I ended up giving them back in favor of the (also German) Irwin high lever cutters as they are more versatile in the electronic world. (Wider and longer jaws, longer handle for better leverage)
This cutter cuts comparable wire very easily and simply. If you're looking for a compact cutter that cuts well, this is it. I have another Knipex cutter with the same capacity but the handles are much longer. This compact size makes it easy to move in tight spaces. The handles are comfortable to hold.
I've had this for over a year now and love and use this tool often. I've posted a video so I won't repeat the points I made in the video, but I can tell you the cutter's edges have no nicks, gaps or chips and will cut just as well as a few thousand cuts back . Please look elsewhere if you are buying them for large diameter cutting for the primary purpose of this tool and stop speaking negatively about this tool for buying it for the wrong application.
OK. I bought the tool but haven't been able to use it yet. That tells you I don't use tools like this very often, but the obvious benefit of having a moving pivot point to increase leverage really drew me in as a brilliant design. I look forward to using it soon.
Pros
Each tool is tested and tested in real life and real conditions for durability and functionality
I have literally found nothing they don't cut. The cutting edges show no signs of wear despite abuse. The high leverage design is definitely a winner. You just press, and when you feel uncomfortable, release and press again. The second press changes the top and allows the blades to cut through the wire. It's probably best to turn away or wear safety goggles when using them.
I bought them for very thick wire (copper ground wire #4) and they are not as easy to cut as NWS Fantastico Plus (see review on this). I'm sorting through my wire cutters and these AND NWS are in one pile. Knipex requires more effort and repositioning to make a full cut, but my experience with Knipex is that when NWS cutters are dented and unusable, these cutters cut perfectly and consistently. a daily cut but will probably last forever, especially on steel wire.
