Topeak TC2260B Wedge Strap Mount Review

Wow, what a great bag. I wanted something small but that could hold everything I need on the go. As you can see from the photos, it includes the same incredible Crank Bros multi-tool, spare hose, micro pump, patch kit, two mounting arms and a spare camera. Buy. What you see is a small bag.

Overall this is a good, sturdy little saddlebag, but the zipper is unreliable. Immediately after unpacking, I noticed a slight crease in the zipper. It doesn't look good in my photo, but it causes the zipper to bind when opening and closing, eventually causing the zipper to fail completely. I've used many Topeak products over the years and never had a problem with them, so I'm guessing this is just a bad product that I've missed. I will most likely send it in for exchange.

Perfect size for spare hose, CO2 cartridge and inflator, multi tool and similar small items. Durable material and zipper feel durable. The door opens to prevent contents from spilling out and has a mesh pocket for small items. Light enough to take off and take with you when you lock your bike. Good size and holds everything you need (spare tube, mini pump, tire mounting lever, mini tool, tire case, patch kit, brake spacer blocks). Reviewers have complained that the seatpost strap needs major improvement, it doesn't work at all on smaller diameter seatposts. There is very little velcro left on a seatpost like this and you just have to be smart to find a way to maximize velcro contact. Also, the zipper pulls out at the bottom, which is annoying (to me). Quality product, good materials, fits everything I needed and I really wanted to love and keep it except the seatpost strap is just too big. Fastening with just 1/8 velcro meant the bag would slide down the rack and not dangle during my rides (Specialized Tarmac Disc 2020 Computer). First I tried the medium one and thought it might be the size, I ordered the small one. However, both have the same problem. I could probably renovate but for the price I would buy a product that comes ready to use.

I usually love Topeak products but this case has a major design flaw. The strap that attaches the bag to the seat tube is sewn on, so the position of the buckle relative to the tube cannot be changed. On a typical road bike seat tube, the buckle is so close to the bag that there is no room to attach the Velcro. In the small version, to my surprise, I was able to fit two 25mm hoses, four 16g CO2 cartridges, two tire levers and a CO2 blower (attached to the top of the cartridge). Well if the inflator was a canister type I doubt it would fit. I would have to take out some items to install the canister. Next year I will be changing the tires on my road bike to 32mm. I think two 32mm tires will fit, but it gets very tight. The bag is of excellent quality so I expect minimal expansion over the next year…

I bought the small size. I can easily fit a replacement tube, multi-tool, tire fitting device, CO2 canister and valve, as well as additional patches. I could probably get more little things if I needed them (latex gloves, money, etc.). I love the buckle straps on the seat rails and the Velcro that wraps around the seatpost. My seat post is round. So when I tighten the strap, all that's left is a little Velcro to hold it in place, leaving plenty of extra length for a larger diameter seatpost. I…
