Fantastic product and great price

DVD, CD, VCD, MP3, component out and handy menu. What more could you want from a player that costs less than $200?! We love ours - even my 5 year old can work.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Sound has stopped working

After a little over a year and very little use, the sound has stopped working (its output is almost inaudible). Of course, the 90-day guarantee is long overdue, so this thing is junk now. Obviously I'm not the only one with this problem, just check out the other reviews.

It worked for a while

I was satisfied with the picture and sound quality of this DVD player. However, after a year of brief use, it suddenly stopped working. The fuse blew and when it was replaced (tried 3 new fuses) it continued to blow meaning there must be a short circuit. I ended up throwing it away as replacing is cheaper than repairing.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Updates available

Junk (no sound after a year)

It's amazing how technologies behave in the same way. I thought I had loose contacts or something and spent an hour trying to get sound but it didn't work. Thank you Revain for this review and I have decided not to waste any more time. If so many people have had the same problems, then the product is defective.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Simple, Intuitive, Impressive

My siblings and I bought this DVD player as a Father's Day gift. Dad likes technology, but he doesn't like spending a lot of time fiddling with cables and figuring things out. Luckily, setting up and using the SD2710 was effortless and we were watching a movie within minutes. The user interface is simple and intuitive, and the simple remote control is much better than most Toshiba products. Many thanks to Toshiba for this excellent product.

  • Good Thing

Functional, Reliable, Affordable

I've had this DVD player for over five months now and it works great. I haven't had any problems with DVDs and VCDs (I've played them). Also, this DVD player offers a lot at a fairly reasonable price. It's true that many DVD players drop in price as new technologies are introduced. However, this is one of those DVD players that's really worth getting. I would advise you to try this model. I haven't had any complaints so far.

Pros
  • Easy to set up
Cons
  • Very expensive

Great until it breaks!

I bought this DVD player about 7 months ago and it initially worked great and I was very happy with it. Then one night, in the middle of the movie, the audio went very low and I had to turn up the volume on the TV to hear it. The sound comes back intermittently which sucks because I'm afraid my speakers will explode. Reading other reviews here seems to be the norm for this player. Now I have to buy a new player. I will never buy a Toshiba again.

Pros
  • Hands Free
Cons
  • Not sure

Good player! - DVD Players and Recorders

I checked many other players and the signs kept pointing to Toshiba. The SD2700 gets high marks, but the SD2710 is a little newer and can also play MP3s, which the 2700 can't. It's hard to ask for better value for money for a great player with multi-format compatibility, great output options and ease of use find use The price is great and Toshiba has a long history of strong products. The only downside is that there are a lot of little buttons on the remote to look at, not just touch…

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Some cons

Great price, great performance!

I won't be buying an HDTV anytime soon. So I just don't need some features. I've had it for a little over a month now and this device works great with everything I've tried. And the price was right. It is connected to a Zenith TV via an Optimus receiver, I have recorded from audio CD to cassette (JVC cassette deck) with great results. The picture is fantastic, the sound is excellent, audio CDs and CD-Rs play without any problems. I haven't tried it with MP3 or CD-RW yet, but I don't think there

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember
