Great specs - poor performance

Pros - great video Cons - sometimes works, sometimes doesn't work for years. Excellent and reliable products. I bought this DVD player after a long search. It seemed very important. I needed a digital decoder in my DVD player because unfortunately my receiver only supports digital formats. My old Toshiba 2-disc digital DVD player had no problem with this shortcoming. Great job with a big annoyance!

I bought this DVD player to replace an annoying Go Video model that didn't play audio CDs and liked to miss the slightest scratch on a rental DVD. All in all, the Toshiba SD-4900 proves to be a worthy replacement, especially considering the low price! It has worked very well with almost every DVD I have rented, even the slightly scratched ones. It plays audio CDs perfectly and I didn't need a separate CD player component in my stereo. Use it for a while, you'll get used to it, and you don't…

The remote's position is a little wobbly in a few spots, but I expect that will be the case for most gamers. However, given the shortcomings some people have mentioned, I feel compelled to defend this player as it gets a lower rating. what he really deserves - mostly out of ignorance. First to the problem of boom traps. It's not a trap, it's a progressive scan. If you don't have an…

Very disappointed

I've always loved Toshiba electronics so when I saw this DVD player I didn't hesitate to buy it. This is not the quality I usually get when I buy a Toshiba. Here's why I sent it back after 30 days. Quite often I'll hit a button to show how much time is left on a DVD I'm watching. This feature is not even an option for this player. I could only view the elapsed time. I thought maybe I just didn't understand how to do it. I've looked through the whole book. This function simply does not exist. I…
