🐎 Optimized Dressage Shoulder Relief Girth by Total Saddle Fit Review

My dressage trainer suggested trying the Total Saddle Fit on my older gelding with TB and asymmetrical shoulders (due to an old treadmill injury). The results have been very good, the saddle now stays in place without interfering with the shoulder blades and my friend is more comfortable. This strap needs to be snug enough to be effective, but the tapered shape and padding distribute pressure well.

I have several of these girths. Two of these are used every day, so they wear out over time. I ordered it as a replacement for my mare. Based on the holes I used, I was convinced that she was losing weight. Well it turns out I ordered 24 and they sent me 26. This will teach me to check orders from this company more carefully in the future. Good product but they fell off in the shipping department.

Great product! My saddler recommended this girth for my horse and of course the more expensive premium version (can't remember the brand). Found on the net - looks and works the same. Saddle fit has changed a lot and my horse moves much more freely with this girth as it moves the saddle further away from the shoulder without changing the saddle position much. Also easy to clean, for a leather strap.

I'm giving four stars because it's a well made leather harness that does what it says on the tin. This gives enough room for shoulder movement. I would like the buckles to have elastic so you can stretch a little as you move and as you tighten the strap. My tuberculous mare still has issues with the chafing she has had to a different extent every wet summer and sweating and chafing of skin folds on longer trots or canters. This is a fantastic harness. It's really well done. I like the strong English bridle leather on the outside and the soft calf leather on the inside. So far the gum has held up very well. I like the holders over the buckles to keep the pieces from moving too much. It's advertised as a dressage harness, but as you can see I use it with a triathlon saddle with a valve.
